The ABTECH ZP range of industrial enclosures includes 19 sizes that are injection molded in either ABS (Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene) plastic or polycarbonate material, along with the option of a clear polycarbonate lid that can be fitted to either base. The ZP Enclosures are lightweight, extremely robust and offer good protection against both corrosion and oil-based contamination. ZP industrial enclosures use the same labyrinth seal arrangement found in both the ZAG and BPG Industrial Enclosures, and deliver protection up to IP65. Stainless steel captive quick release quarter turn screws are included as standard hardware, offering a quick and reliable method of securing the lid. The quick release screws provide a considerable cost savings in assembly times, with an on-average savings of two minutes per enclosure over conventional screws. As an option, conventional screws can be installed if required.

The mounting holes, although contained within the profile of the ZP Enclosure, sit outside the seal and all external fasteners and other hardware are manufactured from 316 grade stainless steel to ensure reliability. In addition, external mounting feet are offered as an option. The ZP range of industrial enclosures is extremely versatile, with a wide range of uses including junction boxes, instrument enclosures and many OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) applications. The addition of the clear lid makes the ZP range of industrial enclosures particularly suitable for housing instruments and indicators, where a viewing aperture is required without the need for opening the enclosure. The ZP range of industrial enclosures can be machined, drilled and tapped with various thread forms and can also be silkscreen printed. Another option available with the ZP range of industrial enclosures is that the units can be molded in almost any color – a minimum quantity order is required.

ABTECH factories in England, Germany and the United States have recently introduced specialist machining centers for the ZP range of industrial enclosures. These new machines allow for dedicated tooling and programming specific to the requirements of the materials used, and reflect the increasing usage of this enclosure range especially in small batch production. Internal components are located via a series of molded pillars, which can be fitted with threaded inserts or can accept self tapping screws - these are used for the installation of a component mounting plate or DIN standard terminal mounting rails, such as TS-15, TS-32 or TS-35.

Grounding can be accomplished by various means – such as an external/internal grounding stud. The stud, in turn, can be connected to the terminal mounting rail or component mounting plate, various rail mounted earth terminals, or proprietary grounding bars can be fitted inside the ZP industrial enclosure. When fitted with a standard neoprene gasket, the ZP industrial enclosure is suitable for ambient temperatures of -40°C to 80°C (-40°F to 176°F). Alternatively, when fitted with an optional silicone gasket, the temperature range increases to -40°C to 120°C (-94°F to 248°F). RFI screening is achieved by the use of a metalized coating of 50-micron thickness to the internal surfaces of the ZP industrial enclosure and the installation of an RFI gasket. The ABTECH sales team can assist every client, recommending suitable RFI gaskets and finishing techniques which will provide optimum protection. Typically, the following characteristics are achievable: Attenuation 55-65 dB @ 500k to 1000MHz or 35 dB @ 40k to 300MHz.
